Hercules the Strong Man (Myth Men - Guardians of the Legend , No 1)
Published in Paperback by Scholastic (August, 1996)

Subject matter is the same old stuff. Not well writtenTHIS BOOK HAS NO EXCITEMENT OR DRAMA FOR THE KIDS,THEY JUST REWROTE AN OLD STORY
The strong manWould you ever fight a one hundred headed dragon? Well Hercules has in MYTH MEN Guardians Of The Legend. In the middle of the story Hercules has to hold the sky. I like Hercules the best, because he's strong and cool. I believe that the moral is that if work hard for something, then you achieve it.
Motivates your beginning readerOne of my sons had a lot of trouble with beginning reading. How laboriously we taught him his letters, then sounds, then short words! But then we found the Myth Men series. He read these books over and over -- and they have some big words! It's a comic book format, so he could pick up cues from the pictures. This series (and Archie comics, actually) got him over the reading hump, he moved on to text without pictures, and last year he won an award for most books read at his school!

JSP: A Beginner's Guide
Published in Paperback by McGraw-Hill Osborne Media (07 September, 2001)

Beginner writer or Beginner's JSP GuideRead this book last weekend. Should have watched Simpsons reruns instead. Found the book to be tedious. Didn't really step me through any sort of learning process....
Not for beginners!
Beginners beware ...I'm a beginner at JSP, but with substantial experience in ASP, JavaScript, Web Development, databases, and some experience writing Java applets. I couldn't get anywhere with this book. Apparently, the assumption is that readers are complete experts in Java, who don't need any terms defined, or procedures outlined in any detail, who are transitioning to JSP. Fine for them. But the word "beginner" doesn't really say it all. After a week beating my head against a wall with this book, I went out and spent another $100 on books that really are for beginners. Maybe I'll find it useful in a few months, when I'm no longer a "beginner".
Great JSP Book for Beginners and NovicesThis is an excellent book. I highly recommend it for anyone starting out in JSP and for those who want a great refresher. This book is well organized and flows well from start to finish.
I especially like chapter 6 which discusses Tag Libraries.
There are plenty of code samples and as an added benefit, part II is a complete real world sample.
I think all JSP development teams should have this book nearby.
Highly recommended.

Developing with PeopleSoft's Application Engine 8
Published in Paperback by STARR Software Inc. (23 October, 2002)
Average review score:

No Treasure Here, Stick with PeopleBooksI was very disappointed with this book. It does not provide any information that PeopleBooks does not. The presentation was very poor, it was unclear, hard to read and contained no "gems" of information. Whether you are a novice or an expert, I would not recommend spending anything on this book.
Useful information that goes beyond PeoplebooksUseful information that goes beyond Peoplebooks. Quite worthwhile for PS8AE dev folk. Covers set processing. A few typos (a lot of it's for its and the like) but seems to have been better proofread / edited than Weessies other PS8 book; the price is more reasonable as well.

Understanding Bollinger Bands
Published in Paperback by Traders Pr (01 May, 1994)

Don't BuyThis is the biggest waste of money ever .... as regards the shortness of this leaflet. It is NOT a book and is my own fault for buying it without checking number of pages. Buy "Bollinger on Bollinger bands" instead - now that is a good book.
a waste of moneyAll of the informaiton in this little pamphlet is available for free on Bollinger's web site...almost word for word.
Efficient but very conciseThis is a very concise book on Bollinger Bands, which are often not fully interpreted in books on Technical Analysis and are here quite well explained. This book is constructed with interviews and magazine articles dealing with Bollinger bands. Anyway, this is the only book I know about them.

Tales of an All Night Town exposes this dirty little secret. When a criminal organization (a/k/a gang) moves into a desperately poor town of a few thousand, have money, and do not shy away from violence, chaos, corruption, and violence rule. Everything from the Police Department to the Mayor's office is corrupted.
A few thousand dollars and a shot gun in Chicago won't even get you on the evening news. In a small town in southern Illinois, they will get you a whole town. (Not to mention a fascinating book!)
